What's the point in having filtered or bottled water if your water cooler is filled with bacteria?

People spend their hard earned money to buy pure bottled water or to get their water purified. However, it seems almost pointless since in the majority of cases clean pure water gets filthy when it's put into the water cooler. The moist environment inside the water dispenser is the perfect climate to breed bacteria, especially when they're not cleaned often.

There are very few people these days that aren't concerned with bacteria. And recent research shows that almost all water dispensers (62% to 100%) have bacteria counts many times higher than those considered safe by the government. An important study showed that 36% of home water coolers had at least one of the diseases causing pathogenic types of bacteria.

The main reason that water dispensers are in such dirty conditions is that practically no one cleans their coolers often enough. It's just too much work. It's a big process that involves bleach solutions and needs to be timed between bottle changes. Complicated = never gets done.
